Conference Theme
The theme of the 3rd Asia BRTS Conference is 'BRTS – Towards Sustainable Mobility' which aims to highlight the role of BRTS in attaining sustainable mobility, by offering quality public transportation that is viable, sustainable and affordable for cities.
Conference Sessions
ST-1 Integrated Approach to BRTS planning
This session focuses on need for an integrated approach in planning BRT systems in cities. This includes integrating other modes and BRTS to ensure seamless travel for its users and developing coordinated transport strategies to facilitate usage of sustainable modes. The session will also look at cases in the Asian context and present initiatives for complementary travel demand management strategies and/or multimodal integration.

ST-2 Social and Economic Dimensions of BRTS
The essence of any public transports system is its 'people–centric' nature. BRT systems should focus on moving people (men and women, young and old, physically challenged) in comfort. Exploration of BRT elements and features that enhance passenger experience like universal accessibility, comfort and safety is essential to ensure patronage of public transport systems. This theme focuses on these social dimensions and ways to ascertain the same. BRT systems catalyse land use improvements within its influence zone, thereby influencing land value addition, increased employment opportunities, etc. This theme also focuses on these economic impacts of BRT systems in cities and its opportunities.

ST-3 Building Customer Relationships
The focus of this theme is to craft an identity for the BRTS. The theme aims to explore image building and branding innovations through provision of user friendly BRTS design elements, communication strategies to enable ease of access to service information, enable customer feedback through suggestions/complaints and outreach efforts to assess user expectation and satisfaction.

ST-4 Financial Sustainability
The focus of this theme is to highlight initiatives to achieve financial efficiency and sustainability of BRTS. Use of innovative sources for generating revenue, like advertising, parking / congestion charging schemes, public private partnerships, etc. other than the conventional revenue sources may be presented. Alternative approaches to fare setting and regulation to better reflect the costs of inputs, affordability and sustainability of the BRTS, may also be presented.

ST-5 Institutional Mechanisms for Coordinated Transit
This session deals with reforms in institutional structures and legislative frameworks which are essential for ensuring coordinated planning, implementation and management of public transit systems including BRTS.

ST-6 The new 'T' in BRTS
The focus of this theme is to cover the potential use of information technology and communication system (ITC), Intelligent Transport Solutions (ITS), and other technologies for commuters' mobility and traffic management. The theme accommodates discussion on the application of technology solutions for integral subjects of mobility like real time passenger information, automatic fare collection, vehicle tracking systems, intersection priority, bus fuel types, electric/battery vehicles and its contribution to curb emission levels, improving operational efficiencies etc.
